Susan Bernstein

Director of Early Childhood Education, Education and Curriculum

Susan brings a combination of in-classroom experience and a passion for Jewish early childhood education to TCS Preschool.

She began her career as a sixth grade teacher on Long Island before relocating to Henderson, Nevada. There, she shifted her focus entirely to Jewish Early Childhood Education while teaching kindergarten at Midbar Kodesh Temple. After moving back to the northeast, Susan joined the staff at TCS in 2010 as a teacher for both three and four-year olds. For the next 10 years, Susan created a classroom environment for our students to recognize that they are capable, competent, and creative thinkers.

In 2020, Susan left the classroom and took on the role of Education and Curriculum Coordinator. In this role she helped develop the classroom and online curricula that guided TCS through the pandemic, created staff development opportunities, and was instrumental in the NAEYC accreditation process.

Susan received her undergraduate degree in Child and Family Studies from Syracuse University and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Adelphi University. She lives in Redding, CT with her husband Jayson and has two college age children, Justin and Harrison.
