Did you know that The Conservative Synagogue has a cemetery? Well, as we have many new member families who may not know about our cemetery,

I sat down with committee chair Rich Kesselman and asked him some questions about it so you would “be in the know”.

Richard, where is the TCS cemetery?

TCS is part of a larger cemetery at 250 Reid Street, Fairfield CT 06824 in a residential area.

Is the cemetery observant of Jewish law?

Yes, the cemetery complies with all Orthodox Jewish law.

Do you have to be a congregation member to buy plots?

The cemetery was purchased to meet the needs of our members and their families.

How much do they cost?

Currently, a plot is $1,500, payable over 3 years, and perpetual care is $500 payable once at time of need.

How many plots can we purchase?

There is no restriction on the number of plots purchased.

If our situation should change in the future, will TCS buy the plots back from us?

Prior to the assignment of specific plots,  the TCS program provides for redemption of your purchase at the same price you paid should your situation change.

How can we get more information?

The Synagogue office has packages which should answer most of your questions.  I am always available as well at 203-226-5970.

Richard and members of the committee are available any time to answer any other questions you may have now or in the future.

I know it’s not a subject most people want to think about, but it’s important to know we are here for you as our cemetery is just one more way we serve our synagogue community.
