Caring about community is a core value for TCS and now more than ever, putting Tikkun Olam, repairing the world, into action is vital. We are coordinating food drives, partnering with JFS to deliver meals to those in need, calling and checking on our neighbors, creating a virtual synagogue so we can stay connected.
TCS includes Frontline Friends -- TCSers working and volunteering in the face of COVID-19. E-mail TCSCares@tcs-westport.org and tell us about a TCSer who is a Frontline Friend so they can be featured here.
Featured Frontline Friend
While most of us at TCS have known and appreciate Lynn Pokorny as TCS’s office administrator for the past two and 1/2 years, she is best known in Weston as one of its most experienced and valued EMTs. Lynn has been a member of the Town’s Volunteer EMS for since 1995! In those 25 years, she has served on the Executive Committee, the Discipline Committee (7 yrs), and the Standard Operating Guidelines Committee (8 yrs); as Human Relations Officer, Infection Control Officer, Quality Assurance Officer, Treasurer, Mentor to New EMTs, and Crew Chief (20 yrs); and she is a recipient of the David and Mirjam Geismar Community Service Award.
In her current capacity as Infection Control Officer (13 yrs), Lynn is responsible for ensuring the safety of all of the Town’s EMTs by, among many other things, making sure that EMTs have the proper equipment and supplies to protect themselves. For the past few months, Lynn has devoted countless hours acclimating Weston's first responders to new protocols, and fitting them for equipment to protect them against COVID-19. This work is in addition to the 400+ hours each year that she is on call herself to respond to any medical emergencies in Weston.
In short, Lynn is not only a Frontline Friend, she’s protecting our Frontline! And we are grateful

physically distant, spiritually close
Our TCS community is connecting on-line. It is a great way to maintain our social and spiritual connectedness while keeping a physical distance.
Spread kindness and brighten up the TCS flower beds. Decorate a rock with a drawing, a kind word, something to bring a smile, and then "plant" it at the TCS garden. It will be there to welcome us when we're all back together.
JUST FOR FUN...
