Atid and Kollel Teen Programs
Our teens in our middle school/high school program continue their Jewish learning and connection to TCS.
The 7th and 8th graders in our ATID program meet once a week from 6:15pm until 8:30pm, where they choose from electives such as You Be the Judge, Holocaust studies, Jewish Soul Cooking, and Israel: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.
The 9th through 12th graders in our Kollel program: We are excited to announce our new program, TCS Teen Tzedakah Collaborative: Learning – Doing – Giving. In a world of so much need and hurt, we would like to challenge our teens to help repair the world in which we live. As part of this new and unique curriculum, our teens will learn about various philanthropic organizations, including Midnight Run, Green Garden Initiative, Magen David Adom, Mazon, and Hazon. In learning about some of these organizations the teens will also have the chance to roll up their sleeves and spend an afternoon or evening volunteering. Throughout the year, we will discuss the process of allocating monies, and at the end of the year, our teens will allocate the monies they have raised to different organizations. A portion of the tuition of the class will help seed the allocation pool.
We are also introducing Brunch with the Rabbi, a seminar on Sundays from 11:45AM-12:45PM where our teens will have the opportunity to study with Rabbi Wiederhorn. Together, they will explore the issues of today, as well as topics that the students suggest.
Knowing how busy our teens’ lives are, this program will meet every other week on Tuesday evenings, and many of the experiential portions will take place on Sundays.
