Silver Anniversary Gala

“25 Years”

Celebrate with us on February 11, 2012

On Friday, March 6, 1987, our congregation held its first service in rent-free office space (located above an ice cream store) generously donated by Leo Nevas and his family and “B’nei Baskin Robbins” – as it was affectionately called – was founded. Our first High Holy Day services were held at the Westport Country Playhouse; it was cold and the power went out but nothing could dampen the spirits of our founding Families. That spirit continues on today. Twenty-five years later, we are a thriving congregation with more than 425 families. We are a center for spiritual growth as we celebrate Shabbat and observe holidays together in shul, under the guidance of Rabbi Wiederhorn, Cantor Berman and our active Ritual Committee. OurSisterhood, Brotherhood, Adult Education, Membership and Social Committees lend spirit to our Synagogue family. And we reach out to the community-at-large through our Social Action Committee. We provide education for our children through our Preschool, Kehillah (Religious School), Atid and Kollel(Hebrew High) programs. Our Machar (grades 4&5), Kadima (grades 6-8) and USY (grades 9-12) youth programs bring dozens of our children together for fun activities in a Jewish setting.

We have so much to be joyful about! We hope you’ll join us as we mark 25 years of Jewish life at The Conservative Synagogue. Together we will celebrate our past and the promise of our future.
