USY/KADIMA NEWS Planning For Our Future We had our first Youth Summit meeting with Rabbi Wiederhorn in late January to discuss with a panel of interested TCS members their ideas and views to aid in creating the ultimate culture and environment for our TCS Youth Programs. We extend warm thanks to David Baker, Susie Blumenfeld, Jon Fraade, Ilene Frost, Paula Koffsky, Amy Nebens, Ari Rothman, and Dan Sussman for attending this incredible brainstorming meeting. So many creative ideas and strategies were presented to strengthen and grow our programming. If you are interested in being a part of this Parent Youth Committee -- and taking part in creating a new future for our TCS Youth -- please contact Benay Rubin or Liz Kaner.
USY News The snowy evening didn't stop 17 USYers from getting together for a magical "Sushi with the Rabbi" event on January 19. The USYers skillfully prepared the sushi while learning from our wonderful rabbi why sushi is the perfect kosher food! Everyone had an amazing time preparing it and enjoyed the delicious sushi. We offer our sincere thanks to: Akira and Lisa Goto for opening up their home to us and teaching us how to make delicious kosher sushi; Howard Matson and Carol Tirshfield for volunteering their time at the event; and Joanne Folger for providing all the ingredients, taking photos, and making sure that everybody was having a great time. Last, but not least, thank you to Rabbi Wiederhorn for taking time out of his busy schedule to spend the evening with our USYers.
KADIMA News In early February, seven Westport Kadimaniks -- alongside our wonderful emissaries Guy Hendel and Lital Shkalim -- joined the Hanefesh Region in an exciting snow-tubing event. Once again, our Westport Chapter was among the leading chapters in having the most number of kids participate in this regional event! The Kadimaniks enjoyed tubing at the Woodbury ski area, mingled with kids from other chapters, and arrived home just in time for the Super Bowl. Many thanks to our wonderful Joanne Folger for providing us with the most delicious snacks for the bus ride.
Volunteers Needed Purim Carnival, March 8: We encourage ALL of our Kadimaniks and USYers to volunteer and help make the carnival a great success! We will need you to be there at 9:00 am to help with the set-up. All volunteers will enjoy a special breakfast and will have their own snack lounge. If you would like to help, please RSVP to Galit Adani.
Save the Date Annual "Chocolate Seder", April 5: This popular event is not to be missed! Its run by our USY and KADIMA Boards and always includes fun, games, and an original skit written and performed by our Youth. Watch your mail and the April bulletin for details
To the Parents of TCS Youth Please encourage your kids to participate in our events; it is NOT too late to become a member! Events are full of fun and excitement; connect kids to Judaism, the synagogue, friends, and our clergy; and create leadership opportunities and creative outlets for children who are interested. If you have any suggestions, questions, or comments, please contact us!
